To qualify to walk with the elders one must possess:

1. ifarabale (calming or controlling the body) calmness
2. iluti (good hearing) teachableness
3. imoju-mora sensitivity to respond to the need of the moment
4. tito steadfastness (enduring, lasting, unfading qualities, reality, genuineness)

Other qualities such as the following would be developed with training

5. oju-inu insight
6. oju-ona design consciousness
